April 7: Sooke Teachers’ Association [STA] Bursaries Six bursaries of $1000 are available for students graduating from schools in School District 62 and for children of current STA members (who may be graduating from schools outside of SD 62). One award is reserved for an eligible Aboriginal student. To apply, pick up a paper application from the Scholarship Bin in the counselling suite. April 18: Scholarships chosen by School District 62 The following three scholarships’ winners are decided by a SD 62 committee. Students must submit their applications to our Belmont counselling suite by 2 pm on April 18th. Paper applications are available in the Scholarship Bin and online applications will also be available from the Scholarship page on Belmont’s website shortly.
1. District Authority Award:
There will be 118 awards of $1250 given to district students for accomplishments in one of seven specialty areas: Fine Arts ( Visual Arts, Dance Drama, Music)Applied Skills (Business Ed, Technology Ed, Home Economics) Physical Activity (not limited to Physical Education)International LanguagesIndigenous Languages & CultureCommunity Service (Volunteer Activity)Technical & Trades Training (Carpentry, Automotive, Mechanics, Cook Training) Students may make applications in two areas, but may only win one award.
2. Monk Office Graduation Scholarship: One award is available for a graduating student who displays good citizenship and social responsibility at school and in the community. The student must be planning to enter the field of environmental studies.
3. Coast Capital Standing Tall: Two awards of $2500 are given tograduating students who have faced significant hardship or adversity and demonstrate a commitment to continue their education. This is a two part application form and both the Coast Capital and School District forms must be completed.

April 29: BC Credit Union Learning Grant Applicants must be members of a BC Credit Union. Four grants of $1000 are offers for students who demonstrate achievement in academics, the arts, athletics, community involvement and/or leadership. End of the Month Reminders
May 1: Westshore Sunrise Rotary Club Bursary Three awards of $1000 each are offered to Belmont students with financial need entering a post-secondary program in trades or academics who have performed service in the school or the community. One of these awards is reserved for a student entering a trades program at Camosun. Students are required to write a 300- word essay on their service. Paper applications are available in the Scholarship Bin in the counselling suite. May 1: Metchosin Fire Department Delany Dunlop Memorial Scholarship This $500 award goes to a District 62 student who demonstrates school and community involvement. Preference will be given to a students attending UVic, studying political science, and / or residing in Metchosin. Paper applications are available in the Scholarship Bin in the counselling suite.
May 1: SD 62 PAC Bursaries Update: Most PAC forms are now available in the Scholarship Bin, but two PACs have yet to confirm. Continue to check the Scholarship Bin for Dunsmuir PACand Happy Valley PAC Bursary forms this week. Paper applications are available in the Scholarship Bin in the counselling suite.
May 1: Robin Reston Sports Bursary This bursary is open to all students who have a special interest in sports that began in elementary school. It is offered by the Lakewood PAC, so a preference will be shown to students who attended Lakewood Elementary School. The application asks students to describe their investments in sports, both school and community. Paper applications are available in the Scholarship Bin in the counselling suite.
