Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association Betty Spalton Scholarship This $1500 scholarship is awarded to a student entering or continuing studies that lead to a career in road building, road maintenance, or heavy construction, including any courses done as academic upgrading. May 17: UVic’s Registration 101 session (9:00 to 10:00) in the Learning Commons Seminar Rooms Jesse Oshanek, from UVic’s admission office, will give a 40-minute Registration 101 presentation to interested UVic applicants, followed by a Question & Answer session. It will cover such topics as registration, program planning, course selection, university terminology, timetables and next steps. This is highly recommended for all students planning to attend UVic next fall. Students should reserve a seat by signing up in the Counselling suite.
May 5: Federation of Community Social Services of BC Youth Education Bursary Students who have been in provincial care are eligible to apply for this award of $2000 which supports youth under 25 who wish to study in the field of Human and Social Services, such as nursing, social work, youth care, psychology etc.) To apply, visit: http://fcssbc.ca/youth-bursary/
May 12 – 14: Destination UBC Okanagan Students admitted to UBCO are eligible for travel cost reimbursement to attend this weekend orientation with the UBC community.
May 13: Destination UVic This is a one-day, on-campus event for applicants and their families to experience a taste of what it’s really like to be a member of the UVic community. The day will include campus and residence tours, program planning with academic advisors, course registration information sessions, and opportunities to connect with current students, faculty and staff through a variety of fun activities. Eligible attendees will also have the chance to win a $1,000 tuition credit towards first-year tuition at UVic! Check your email for your invitation.
May 14: Metchosin Foundations Awards CORRECTION to deadline date: now May 15 Four different awards of $500 have been created by a Metchosin donor. They are for: academic achievement, environmental stewardship, community citizenship, and one reserved for a student who is a member of the Beecher Bay First Nation. Paper applications are available in the Scholarship Bin in the counselling suite.
May 31: Deadline for distributed learning course grades To ensure that UVic receives all final grades by July, students must complete their online courses no later than May 31.
